BIG LAKE MN – A dance partner who’s light on their feet makes doin’ the boogie or foxtrot infinitely more enjoyable. Particularly when compared to a hefty clunker who’s constantly stepping on your toes. On frozen lakes, fishermen find themselves hand-in-hand with a dance part [...]

  • What size inverter?
[quote=B-man715]Eagle, depending on the layout and location of what needs powering, there is a very simple solution. Just have your inverter near your appliances with a power strip plugged into it. No need for fancy switches or worries about backfeeding or frying something. This is all I do to
  • Nils 10 inch power auger
You will pay more for a commercial grade powerhead which no other brand uses . Before our dollar climbed here, my 8 inch Nils was about a grand to get to the door . Is it for most weekend or occassional ice warriors . ? Likely not but heah when you see so many ice castles etc out there at 12-25 gra
  • Ideas on using drill for powering ice auger?
Last year I ran a 6" Nils convertible. Cut through 24" of ice in 17 seconds, which was easily beating gas augers by a far margin. I was able to get a decent number of holes using a very mediocre-at-best Craftsman 18V with 1.5 Amphr NiCad battery. If you used the extra capacity LiIon batter [...]
  • Keeping ION battery warm
JSK, you must use an ATV all winter to get to your house? I've taken my auger out by 4 wheeler about a mile on cold days without a problem. Even wrapping a small towel or something would work, but I never have. After good ice I'm a truck guy and it's always in the box of the truck or [...]

  • Mid-Late Fall Bass fishing
I too follow the remaining green weeds for largemouth from deep to shallow as they die off. As far as lures I pretty much only fish 3 in the fall. 1/2 oz. spinnerbait with a bigger single willow leaf blade, 3/8 oz. jig-n-craw(usually black/blue), and a lipless crankbait.

Bulking Up For Dirty Water Bass. by Chad Peterson - Bulking Up For Dirty Water Bass A lot of people cringe at the thought of fishing a lake with pea soup colored water, I’m talking lakes that swallow secchi disks alive.  I’ve grown to love this particular situation as most of the b [...]
