BIG LAKE MN – A dance partner who’s light on their feet makes doin’ the boogie or foxtrot infinitely more enjoyable. Particularly when compared to a hefty clunker who’s constantly stepping on your toes. On frozen lakes, fishermen find themselves hand-in-hand with a dance part [...]

  • Pictures
How do you re-size a photo? I can get them on but sometime they are the big ones. Does this take a Photobucket type program or can I just do it from My Documents/Pictures?
  • Wiring - When to do
I wired, then foamed but I sure don't know if that's best or not. If you don't run conduit(I didn't) be sure to take LOTS of pictures of the wiring before you foam so you can be extra careful where to put nails or screws for cabinets, shelves, racks, etc. Also, when you figure how [...]

“i have more fun”

  • Night Crankin
I want to be better at pulling cranks. We have a full moon coming up and I want to hit the lake for a night bite. My question is when your are pulling cranks at night what depth are you focusing on. On the lake close to home the structure is relatively sharp break lines with flats that top out at
  • late season august tactics
I spend a lot of time trolling in the month of August. Depth and location depend on the lake. Sometimes I'm deeper with leadcore, and other times I'm trolling over the tops of whatever weeds are left.
  • We will get a C&R Bass season next year
That's good news. I'm already looking forward to next years opener! Curious, does any one have an official link to an article on this, I couldn't find anything on the DNR site, but I just could of missed it.
  • Search Baits
Juan, I fish it with a straight retrieve and sometimes a stop and go or twitch like a jerkbait. Solicits some hard hits.
  • Interesting tactic
We have a guy in our tournament league that actually goes and puts them back after the weigh in. He won 2 tournaments in the same week with most of the same fish! Why would you want fish like this though for fun? It seems almost like spearing in the spring to me, I hope you're releasing them.

  • How Quickly Things Can Change
How Quickly Things Can Change by Mitch Bradshaw - Tournament Fishing isn’t for everyone. For some anglers it takes the fun out of the past time or hobby that they love. For others tournament fishing can take their passion to the next level. As frustrating as it can be at times, I enjoy tourna [...]

  • Lay Over Walleyes
Lay Over Walleyes by HSO Staff by Jason Mitchell Anglers love to follow cliches.  Many of these cliches get taken as bold truths and get repeated until nobody ever questions what the cliche is.  A lot of information is regurgitated and repeated until we get to a point where people just do [...]
  • Pitching Drop Shotting
Pitching Drop Shotting by HSO Staff Author: Matt Johnson When we think of drop-shotting, we typically think of vertical, finesse fishing over a rock pile or piece of isolated structure. Or maybe even a tactic used to pick-off schooling smallmouth bass along expansive flats. Drop-shotting is without [...]
